Dr. Ibrahim Khalil to Present on AI-Driven Precision Soil Health at EUSO Forum 2026
The EU Soil Observatory (EUSO) Stakeholder Forum 2026, titled “The Role of AI to Achieve Healthy Soils by 2050”, will take place online on 25 June 2026. The annual forum brings together policymakers, scientists, local actors, civil society representatives, and citizens to exchange knowledge and discuss innovative approaches for sustainable soil management.
Among the featured speakers, Dr. Ibrahim Khalil (University College Dublin) will deliver a presentation entitled “Toward AI-Driven Precision Soil Health: Leveraging MODASYS to Map the Future of Climate-Smart Agriculture.” His talk will highlight the role of AI and digital decision-support tools in advancing sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.

Dr. Ibrahim Khalil Participates in Tools4CAP EU-Level Focus Group Meeting

Dr. Khalil, Coordinator of the HOLOSEU Project, participated in the Tools4CAP EU-Level Focus Group Meeting held on 28 May 2026 at ECORYS. The meeting brought together EU representatives, project leads, and stakeholders to discuss the transition from CAP Strategic Plans to the CAP chapter within the National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs), with a focus on practical tools to support implementation under the evolving EU policy framework.
After the event, Dr. Khalil introduced the MODASYS platform as a decision-support tool for sustainable land-use planning and CAP-related applications. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of integrated modelling and digital tools in supporting climate-smart, evidence-based agricultural policy development.
A significant boost for agricultural research in Ireland! Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon, and Minister of State with special responsibility for research, Noel Grealish, have announced €5.9 million in funding under the international strand of the Department’s Research Programme.
This strategic investment will support cutting-edge research initiatives that address key challenges and opportunities in the agri-food sector. Among the projects receiving funding is HOLOSEU, led by Dr. Ibrahim Khalil at University College Dublin. This is a testament to the excellent research being conducted within our third-level institutions.
